Interior Minister Naqvi visits Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, passport office at Awami Markaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected immigration arrangements at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Saturday, with a particular focus on how passengers were being processed at the immigration counters.

During the visit, Naqvi spoke with travellers heading abroad and sought their feedback on the immigration procedure and the services being provided at the airport.

The minister directed officials to deal firmly with travellers attempting to leave the country on the basis of forged documents.

He also directed that no passenger should be permitted to travel if their documents were incomplete or had not been properly verified.

Naqvi later went to the passport office at Karachi’s Awami Markaz, where he reviewed the arrangements for citizens applying for passports.

The Interior Ministry said he announced that the facility would be enlarged to improve convenience for the public.

While at the passport centre, the minister met applicants waiting to obtain their travel documents and asked them about the time they had to spend between receiving their tokens and being called to the service counter.

According to the ministry, the citizens spoke positively about the passport issuance arrangements and said they were satisfied with the system.

The applicants told Naqvi that their cases had been processed within a few minutes.

They further said they had encountered no problems while applying for their passports and were not required to wait for extended periods, the ministry stated.
