Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for unity and harmony to eradicate terrorism and address the country’s economic and social challenges.
He was addressing the National Youth and Ulema Convention titled "Rab-e-Zul-Jalaal Ka Ehsaan - Pakistan" in connection with Jumatul Wida in Islamabad on Friday.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the need for all segments of society, particularly religious leaders, to play an active role in bridging the divisions based on religion and ethnicity that are hindering Pakistan’s progress.
Reflecting on the sacrifices of those who fought for Pakistan’s creation, the prime minister expressed concern that, today, internal disputes and personal ambitions often overshadow the nation's development.
He urged the people to put aside personal agendas and focus on the collective good of the country.
PM Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan's armed forces are making unparalleled sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
“While Pakistan is endowed with abundant natural resources, the prime minister noted that some forces, both external and internal, are trying to prevent the country from benefiting from these assets,” the premier said.
He stressed the need to determine how much longer our brave security forces and sons of the soil will continue shedding their blood.
PM Shehbaz urged the youth to dedicate themselves fully to the nation’s advancement, assuring them that the government would allocate significant resources to empower them with education, skills, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
He said that the government has launched several initiatives aimed at supporting young people, including the Digital Youth Hub, which is designed to help them build a better future through education and employment opportunities.
The prime minister also pointed to the importance of responsible media use.
PM Shehbaz called on intellectuals and religious leaders to work towards promoting positive ideas and countering the spread of fake news and harmful propaganda.
He lamented the rise of negative narratives that have been used to deepen divisions within society, and he urged the public to stay united in the face of these challenges.
PM Shehbaz also expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.
“Until they achieve freedom, all 240 million Pakistanis will continue to stand with them. We pray that Allah grants freedom to our oppressed brothers and sisters in the occupied regions,” the premier asserted.
