PM Shehbaz calls for deeper economic, agricultural ties with Saudi Arabia 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to give greater attention to economic and agricultural cooperation, saying their longstanding strategic partnership should evolve into stronger trade and investment links that benefit both countries.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, who called on him in Islamabad.

PM Shehbaz welcomed the positive progress in bilateral engagement, particularly the increasing cooperation aimed at expanding Pakistan’s agricultural exports to Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the two sides also explored measures to raise agricultural output in Pakistan by adopting modern technologies, strengthening research and development, and improving the management and utilisation of water resources.

The prime minister said Pakistan would soon send a team of agricultural specialists to Riyadh. The visit is intended to continue the ongoing discussions and identify practical ways to unlock the full potential of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

PM Shehbaz also highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Referring to the recently concluded Makkah Joint Defence Agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan, he said the agreement had further brought the three nations closer and conveyed a strong message of solidarity and peace across the region.

The Saudi minister, for his part, reaffirmed Riyadh’s willingness to expand collaboration with Pakistan in key areas including agriculture, water management and food security.

The meeting was attended by a number of federal ministers including Rana Tanveer Hussain, Mohammad Aurangzeb, Atta Tarar, Jam Kamal Khan, Dr. Musadik Malik, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Dr Syed Tauqir Shah, and Bilal Azhar Kiyani, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials.
