Naqvi, Chinese envoy discuss special protection unit, business conference for investors

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Friday in Islamabad.

Upon arriving at the Chinese Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave, Naqvi was greeted warmly by the ambassador.

The meeting revolved around strengthening counter-terrorism efforts, enhancing security collaboration, expanding police exchange programs, and other pressing matters. The two also discussed the broader regional security landscape.

During their talks, both sides agreed to hold a business conference aimed at tackling the security challenges faced by Chinese investors in Pakistan.

In the initial phase, the conference will involve discussions with Chinese businesspeople already operating in the country, while the second phase will focus on potential investors considering opportunities in Pakistan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that a ‘Special Protection Unit’ is being created to safeguard foreign nationals.

The unit will specifically focus on the safety of Chinese citizens in Islamabad, and its personnel will also receive training in the Chinese language as part of their preparation.
