DPM Dar reaffirms Pakistan's support for UN, multilateralism

Islamabad  (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the United Nations and the principles of effective multilateralism during a telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.

According to an official statement, the discussion focused on the latest regional and international developments, with both leaders exchanging views on the evolving security and diplomatic landscape.

They stressed that sustained diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and continued engagement remain essential for addressing regional challenges and promoting lasting peace and stability.

During the conversation, Dar underscored Pakistan’s consistent support for the UN’s central role in maintaining international peace and security.

He also reiterated the country’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and resolving global issues through dialogue and international institutions.

The IAEA Director General welcomed ongoing diplomatic efforts and expressed optimism that all parties would continue dialogue and engagement following the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

He said maintaining communication and cooperation would be crucial in achieving a peaceful, durable, and mutually acceptable outcome.

Grossi also briefed the deputy prime minister on his candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, sharing his vision for the role and discussing the importance of effective global leadership in addressing contemporary international challenges.

The conversation reflected the shared commitment of both sides to supporting diplomatic initiatives and reinforcing international cooperation aimed at fostering regional and global peace.
