Iran says 'good progress' made as third round of talks with US wraps up

Tehran (Web Desk): Significant progress has been reported in the recent Iran–US talks held in Switzerland under the mediation of Oman, with both countries agreeing to continue discussions next week in Austria. These negotiations follow threats of military action from US President Donald Trump, who gave Tehran a 15-day ultimatum to reach an agreement.

Iran maintains that the talks should focus solely on its nuclear program, while the US is pressing Iran to limit its missile development and curb support for regional militant groups.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state television that the negotiations had made very good progress, with both sides seriously discussing key elements of a potential agreement. He added that the next round of talks could take place in less than a week, with technical discussions scheduled to begin on Monday at the United Nations nuclear agency in Vienna.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi confirmed that technical talks in Vienna are set to begin next week and said significant progress has already been achieved.

The negotiations are taking place amid the US deploying its largest military presence in the Middle East. Delegations from both countries met under tight security at the Omani ambassador’s residence and then paused to consult with their respective governments.

Araghchi described this round as the most intense and serious set of talks to date, emphasizing that detailed discussions will continue on key issues, including the lifting of sanctions and nuclear-related measures.
