Pakistan's diplomatic role deepens as Iranian FM meets Field Marshal Munir twice in 24 hours before Moscow visit

Islamabad/Moscow (Web Desk): Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and advancing global peace has entered a decisive phase, as high-level diplomatic engagement continues to intensify across multiple capitals.

According to sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held his second meeting within 24 hours with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir during a brief but highly significant visit to Islamabad.

The discussions reportedly focused on the prospects of a durable ceasefire and broader regional security concerns, with both sides reviewing possible pathways toward de-escalation.

Sources further indicate that, through Pakistan’s mediation efforts, Iran has put forward notable and flexible proposals to the United States. Among the key elements of these suggestions is Iran’s reported willingness to keep a strategically important maritime passage open for global trade.

It has also been proposed that complex nuclear-related issues be deferred to a later stage, while immediate priority be given to securing a ceasefire.

In response, the US President is said to have welcomed the developments, remarking that “Iran’s sensible people can now coordinate through phone consultations.”

Shortly after concluding his engagements in Islamabad with the Field Marshal AsimMunir, Abbas Araghchi departed for Russia, where he is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin today.

The purpose of the visit, according to diplomatic sources, is to brief major world powers on the progress emerging from Pakistan-facilitated diplomatic efforts and to build broader international confidence in the ongoing initiative.

Meanwhile, alongside these diplomatic movements, the US President once again praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Field Marshal Asim Munir.

In his latest remarks, he also referred to regional military developments involving India, reiterating a claim that Pakistan had shot down 11 Indian aircraft during an aerial engagement, describing it as evidence of Pakistan’s military superiority.
