COVID-19: Pakistan reports 4,487 new cases, 142 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 804,939 on Tuesday after 4,487 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 279,272 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 293,468 in Punjab, 114,661 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 21,803 in Balochistan, 73,804 in Islamabad, 5,272 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 16,659 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 17,329 with 142 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 699,816 after another 5,770 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the registration of the citizens over forty years of age for COVID-19 vaccination started across the country on Tuesday (today).

In a tweet, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has also decided to allow walk-in vaccination of all registered citizens above 50 years.

He said the citizens who are forty years or older can register and encourage others to register for the vaccination.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 146.841 million and death toll tops 3.104 million.
