DPM Dar expresses concern over continued violations, attempts to alter Occupied East Jerusalem legal status quo

New York (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday raised serious concern over the persistent violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, along with efforts to disturb the established historical and legal status of the holy site in Occupied East Jerusalem.

He reiterated Pakistan’s firm backing for the Hashemite Custodianship of Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy places.

Dar made the remarks while participating in a joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Group of Four Islamic countries, comprising Pakistan, Türkiye, Malaysia and Indonesia, focused on the situation in Jerusalem in New York.

The meeting was convened by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a continuation of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem that took place in Amman on August 5 this year, the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a press release.

The DPM/FM also reiterated Islamabad’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to determine their own future and for the creation of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine within the pre-1967 boundaries, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif serving as its capital.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York (UNGA), DPM Dar Dar held a cordial interaction with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

The two sides discussed issues of common interest and the latest developments in the region, while reaffirming their shared commitment to further developing and strengthening relations between Pakistan and Jordan.
