National Assembly passes Rs17.57tr budget for FY26

Islamabad(Web Desk): The National Assembly approved the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, including certain modifications to the Finance Bill, despite vigorous objections from opposition parties.

The government had presented the budget two weeks ago, outlining a total expenditure of Rs 17.57 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb introduced the Finance Bill in the lower house, where it was supported by the ruling coalition, notably including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Following a detailed clause-by-clause review and voting on proposed changes, the bill was passed with a majority. However, all amendment proposals from opposition members were dismissed during the session.
