US CENTCOM commander General Michael Kurilla awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) honor

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander, General Michael Erik Kurilla, has been conferred with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) — one of Pakistan’s highest military honors — in recognition of his significant role in strengthening defense cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the award was presented by President Asif Ali Zardari in a prestigious ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr (Presidency) in Islamabad.

Upon his arrival, General Kurilla was given a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent from Pakistan’s armed forces. ISPR stated that the honor reflects his "visionary leadership" and "unwavering commitment" to deepening military collaboration and mutual understanding between CENTCOM and Pakistan's Armed Forces.

The statement added that General Kurilla played a crucial role in enhancing counterterrorism coordination, regional security cooperation, and the broader strategic military partnership. His ongoing support for peace and stability in the region was highly appreciated by Pakistan's civil and military leadership.

The award also underscores the growing depth of bilateral military engagement, and Pakistan's deep gratitude for General Kurilla’s efforts in fostering long-term defense cooperation.

During his visit, General Kurilla held high-level meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The discussions focused on regional security, counterterrorism collaboration, defense ties, and joint efforts to tackle emerging global threats.
