Geneva hosts third round of US-Iran nuclear talks under Omani mediation

Geneva (Web Desk): The third round of nuclear negotiations between the United States (US) and Iran is set to commence today in Geneva, facilitated through Oman’s mediation.

The discussions are expected to focus on the scope of Iran’s nuclear program, uranium enrichment levels, and monitoring protocols.

Ahead of the talks, Iran has prepared a detailed written proposal suggesting that its nuclear capabilities remain non-military while being accessible for civilian purposes.

The Iranian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US team will include Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and former advisor Jared Kushner.

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is also expected to participate in the negotiations.

Among the key proposals is Iran’s plan to reduce or partially export its uranium stockpile, a step seen as significant in addressing US concerns.

Washington has raised apprehensions regarding Iran’s missile program and regional security, whereas Tehran emphasizes the need for a comprehensive and substantive agreement rather than a temporary arrangement.

This round of talks reflects both sides’ efforts to find common ground on critical nuclear issues, with the potential to shape the future of non-proliferation and regional stability.
