Sindh govt, World Bank agree to collaborate in diverse sectors

Karachi (Web Desk): The Sindh government and the World Bank (WB) have decided to work together across several areas, placing particular emphasis on the development of health and education.

This understanding was reached during a meeting held in Karachi on Tuesday between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the newly appointed Country Director of the World Bank.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ongoing initiatives supported by the World Bank, with a specific focus on strategies to boost student enrollment in primary and middle schools.

In addition to education, the conversation also covered ways to enhance provincial revenue systems.

Improvements in the collection and administration of agricultural tax, sales tax on services, and property tax were mutually acknowledged as priority areas for reform.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of both the provincial government and the international financial institution to strengthen collaboration aimed at achieving sustainable development goals in the region.
