Islamabad (Web Desk): World Intellectual Property Day was observed on Friday across the globe including Pakistan.
This year, the theme of Day is "IP and SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity".
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, to share details of the celebrations to mark the Day, Chairman Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan, Farukh Amil, emphasized the critical role that intellectual property plays in fostering innovation and creativity, the Radio Pakistan reported.
In her remarks, Director General IPO Pakistan Shazia Adnan said that the IPO also plans to launch a series of events and workshops throughout the year about intellectual property and sustainable development.
World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), a specialized agency of the UN, is a global forum for intellectual property policy, services, information and cooperation. World Intellectual Property Day, which has been observed since 2000, marked the day in 1970 when the convention establishing WIPO entered into force.
World Intellectual Property Day is an opportunity for both inventors and creators for people across the world to promote IP solutions that shape the world.
This day aims to educate people on the various ways of safeguarding intellectual property such as patents, trademarks, copyrights and others.
As per WIPO, World IP Day 2024 is an opportunity to know how intellectual property encourages and amplifies the innovative and creative solutions which are so crucial to building a common future.
