Pakistan, Bangladesh reaffirm commitment to strengthen cooperation

New York (Web Desk): Pakistan and Bangladesh have reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation across key areas, including trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his Bangladeshi counterpart Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the overall state of bilateral relations and welcomed the positive developments witnessed in Pakistan-Bangladesh ties.

They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest and stressed the need for continued coordination at multilateral platforms, particularly within the United Nations framework.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial ties with Bangladesh. He also congratulated Bangladesh on assuming the presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly and expressed Pakistan’s continued support for its efforts to promote the objectives of the United Nations.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reciprocated the sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations and highlighting his government’s interest in taking Bangladesh-Pakistan ties forward.
