CM Maryam invites Thailand’s business community to invest in Punjab

Bangkok (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz encouraged Thai entrepreneurs to explore the various investment opportunities available in Punjab, emphasizing the province’s investor-friendly policies and economic potential.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by former Thai prime minister of and well-known telecommunications businessman Thaksin Shinawatra, she invited the business community to take advantage of the incentives being offered by the Punjab government.

The occasion also saw the presence of Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s youngest former female premier, who, alongside her father, extended a cordial welcome to the Pakistani leader.

Speaking at the dinner, Thaksin expressed sincere appreciation for the efforts of the Sharif family, offering good wishes for former premier and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif.

He commended the vision and commitment Maryam Nawaz has demonstrated in steering development initiatives across Punjab.

The former Thai premier remarked that the dedication shown by Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawa, in serving the public was truly admirable and inspiring.

CM Maryam, in turn, acknowledged the Shinawatra family's longstanding contributions to Thailand’s progress. She highlighted how their reform-driven governance and focus on public welfare had created a lasting impact on the Thai nation.

The Punjab CM described the relationship between Pakistan and Thailand as one built on mutual regard and a shared commitment to economic collaboration.

Emphasizing the importance of innovation and people-centered governance in her province, Maryam outlined Punjab’s strategic focus on sectors like textiles, agriculture, tourism, and information technology.

She encouraged Thai investors and businesses to explore the emerging opportunities in Punjab, citing the province’s business-friendly policies and access to regional markets as strong incentives.

The Punjab CM underlined the value of soft power and people-to-people connections, noting that cultural exchange, education, and tourism could significantly strengthen bilateral ties.

Maryam praised Thailand’s institutional development efforts, calling them an effective model for reform and modernization.

Highlighting the importance of preparing the younger generation for a tech-driven future, she shared Punjab’s commitment to equipping its youth with digital skills aligned with the vision of creating a modern, knowledge-based economy.

The Punjab chief minister thanked her Thai hosts for their gracious hospitality and extended an invitation to Thaksin and Paetongtarn Shinawatra to visit Punjab in the near future.
