Doha (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday highlighted Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic indicators and the reforms introduced to attract foreign investment, while inviting members of the Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA) to explore opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, energy, agriculture, technology, and export-oriented manufacturing sectors.
He made these remarks while meeting a delegation of the QBA, led by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the association, during his official visit to Doha.
Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister commended the association for its constructive role in strengthening economic and commercial ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
Shehbaz Sharif underscored Pakistan’s emphasis on private-sector-led engagement, describing it as a cornerstone of the bilateral partnership. He also highlighted the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a one-window platform designed to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely decision-making for investors
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani expressed interest in expanding business-to-business cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement, including during the forthcoming visit of the Pak-Qatar investment taskforce to Doha later this month and the hosting of business forums, aimed at translating discussions into concrete economic partnerships.
The two parties further agreed to take special measures to strengthen linkages between businesses and entrepreneurs from both countries, with the goal of enhancing bilateral business relations.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Pakistan and Qatar to expand trade and investment ties through closer collaboration between their private sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present during the meeting.
