Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his appreciation for the successful completion of the bidding process for the privatisation of 75% of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) shares, congratulating the nation on this significant milestone.

The prime minister thanked Almighty Allah and highlighted that the process was carried out with complete transparency.

He recalled his commitment upon taking office to take decisive measures toward the privatization of state-owned enterprises, noting that the PIA transaction marks a major step in fulfilling that promise.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that the privatization of PIA, alongside other state-owned companies, will play a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan’s economic foundations.

He added that investor confidence in the country’s economy has been restored, with the PIA privatization serving as tangible evidence of this renewed trust.

The prime minister further remarked that the national economy is gradually achieving greater stability through the cooperation of all relevant institutions.

He acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Adviser on Privatization Muhammad Ali, the Privatization Commission, and other key officials for their efforts in successfully executing the process.

Reiterating his government’s focus on national development, prosperity, and public welfare, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of active collaboration with the private sector to achieve these objectives.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz, in a post on social media platform, reaffirmed the administration’s pledge to take prompt and concrete steps to privatize loss-making state-owned enterprises that have long strained the economy.

He described the completion of the competitive and transparent PIA bidding as a landmark achievement in this endeavor.

The prime minister extended congratulations to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Adviser on Privatization Muhammad Ali, and their entire teams for overseeing the process with professionalism and integrity.

He also noted that the active participation of Pakistan’s leading business groups and seasoned investors reflects a strong vote of confidence in the country’s economic trajectory.

PM Shehbaz concluded by assuring that the government will continue to work with renewed energy and determination to build a brighter and more prosperous future for Pakistan.
