New sanctions threatened by 'desperate' US to fail, says Iranian FM Araghchi

Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has strongly criticised the latest sanctions imposed by the United States (US), saying that Washington’s new New sanctions threatened by ‘desperate’ US to fail as these measures will not succeed in forcing Tehran to surrender or changing its position.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US decision to return to economic pressure and sanctions after previously pursuing military action was a sign of frustration.

According to Araghchi, Washington had already tried different methods to pressure Iran, but none had achieved the desired results.

The Iranian foreign minister argued that military attacks and blockades had failed in the past and maintained that the latest sanctions would also prove ineffective.

He suggested that repeatedly turning to punitive measures demonstrated that the US had been unable to achieve its objectives through other means.

Araghchi further stressed that Iran had never been frightened by external pressure and would not bow to threats or coercive measures.

He said Tehran remained prepared to defend its interests and would not accept demands imposed through intimidation or economic restrictions.

At the same time, Araghchi called on Washington to approach Iran through dialogue based on mutual respect.

He said meaningful engagement could provide an opportunity for both sides to address their differences and search for a solution that is acceptable to all parties.

The Iranian foreign minister emphasised that Tehran considers respectful and balanced negotiations a more effective way of resolving disputes than sanctions or military pressure.

He maintained that any sustainable settlement should be built on the principles of fairness, mutual respect and recognition of the interests of both sides.

Araghchi’s remarks came in response to the latest US sanctions and reflected Tehran’s continued rejection of Washington’s policy of using economic restrictions as a means of influencing Iran’s decisions.

Iran has repeatedly maintained that pressure will not force it to abandon its position and that diplomatic engagement remains the preferred route for resolving outstanding issues.

The Iranian government’s latest response therefore signals that Tehran intends to resist the new American measures while keeping the door open to negotiations, provided that any dialogue is conducted on the basis of dignity, equality and mutual respect.
