No one allowed to take law into own hands, ban on TLP expected soon: Azma Bukhari

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has said that a decision regarding the possible ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is expected shortly, adding that the final call on the future of the extremist outfit will be taken by the federal government.

She warned that no individual or group will be allowed to challenge the writ of the state or take the law into their own hands.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari asserted that peace in Punjab will not be compromised under any circumstances.

She cautioned that those found involved in forcibly shutting down markets or inciting violence will face terrorism charges.

The provincial minister also announced that the government has resolved to make Punjab a weapon-free province. She revealed that the licenses of 26 arms dealers have already been revoked and that no new weapon licenses will be issued in the future.

Bukhari further said that all licensed weapons must be registered at service centers, emphasizing that the notorious culture of armed displays and gangsterism will no longer be tolerated.

She reiterated that such practices have no place in the Punjab of today.
