UNSC adopts Pakistan-drafted annual report by consensus

New York (Web Desk): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has unanimously approved its yearly report for submission to the UN General Assembly, with Pakistan taking the lead in preparing and presenting the document that reviews the Council’s response to a variety of global crises and major international issues.

Addressing the Council after the adoption of the report, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said the document gives a detailed summary of the Council’s activities carried out during 2025.

He explained that the report highlights the growing range of challenges confronting international peace and security, including ongoing wars, newly developing conflicts, humanitarian situations and other emerging threats across different regions.

The Pakistani envoy further said that although continuing disputes and increasing tensions often created obstacles for political dialogue and joint international action, the UNSC still remained actively engaged in promoting global stability, encouraging peace efforts and strengthening multilateral cooperation to achieve sustainable peace and security worldwide.
