Govt reduces petrol price by Rs6, diesel by Rs6.80 per litre

Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government on Friday revised petroleum prices downward for the upcoming week, announcing a notable decrease in the rates of both petrol and high-speed diesel effective from May 23, 2026 (Saturday).

As per an official notification released by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy, the price petrol has been brought down by Rs6 per litre.

After the adjustment, the new petrol price stands at Rs403.78 per litre, compared to the previous rate of Rs409.78.

In the same notification, the government confirmed a reduction in the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs6.80 per litre.

The revised HSD rate has been fixed at Rs402.78 per litre, replacing the earlier price of Rs409.58 per litre.

The newly announced fuel prices took effect from May 23, 2026, and will stay in place until the government issues another review.

This marks the second consecutive reduction in petroleum prices, as authorities had earlier cut fuel rates by Rs5 per litre last week due to shifts in international oil prices.
