Sheikh Rashid inaugurates high-speed train ‘Rahman Baba Express’

Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid on Sunday inaugurated high-speed Rahman Baba Express, a train service which will facilitate people travelling between Peshawar and Karachi.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the minister said that Rahman Baba Express is a gift from Prime Minister Imran Khan to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the entire rail track from Karachi to Peshawar would be upgraded, and passengers would soon be able to travel from Karachi to Peshawar in eight hours.

Sheikh Rashid said freight trains are being increased to fifteen which will boost the economy of the country. He said two VVIPs nonstop trains will also be launched in next two months besides starting three trains for tourists. Jahangira and Nowshera stations will be developed under CPEC, the minister added. "About 20 new trains will be launched next year," the minister said.

The train, with 10 economy-class coaches and a brake van, will run between the cities with a total journey time of 26 hours and fare of Rs1,350.

It will pass through various cities including Nowshera, Attock City, Rawalpindi, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rohri, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Landhi.

Passengers traveling via Rahman Baba Express on the first day (Sunday) will be charged half the ticket.
