Negotiations are another battlefield; enemy lacks capacity for new war: IRGC spokesperson

Tehran (Web Desk): Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has said that Tehran is full prepared for war while keeping the door open to negotiations if they become necessary to safeguard the country’s national interests, IRNA reported.

Mohebbi said Iran’s military forces are operating at full readiness, while the IRGC has also made arrangements for a conflict that could continue for an extended period.

He made it clear that military preparedness should not be interpreted as a rejection of diplomatic efforts.

“What is correct in this matter is that we should have 100-per cent readiness for war, and we have this capability and readiness. [Iranian] Armed Forces are now 100pc ready to fight, and the IRGC has prepared itself for a long war. But this does not mean rejecting negotiations,” he said.

Mohebbi also referred to the recent US-Israeli war with Iran, saying the conflict had revealed shortcomings in Washington’s military presence across the region.

He specifically pointed to issues concerning US military bases, intelligence capabilities and its deployment in the Persian Gulf.

“We must see when and through what action our national interests are served. If our national interests require us to fight, we must fight. If our national interests require us to negotiate alongside the war, we must negotiate,” he said.
