US will retrieve, 'destroy' Iran's enriched uranium, says Donald Trump

Washington (Web Desk): United States (US) President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that Iran must not be permitted to retain its enriched uranium, adding that the United States would likely destroy it once it is removed from Iranian control.

Addressing reporters in the Oval Office, he said, “We will get it. We don’t need it. We don’t want it. We’ll probably destroy it after we get it, but we’re not going to let them have it.”

He did not explain how such radioactive material would be disposed of, even though it is typically handled and stored under strict safeguards due to its role in nuclear energy production.

Meanwhile, Iran has so far rejected talks regarding the surrender of its uranium stockpile, which is estimated to be around 1,000 pounds of material close to weapons-grade level.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff further claimed that Iranian representatives had previously boasted that the existing stockpile would be sufficient to manufacture up to 11 nuclear bombs.
