Field Marshal Asim Munir in Tehran as part of ongoing mediation efforts: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Asim Munir arrived in Tehran as part of ongoing mediation efforts, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to the Inter-Public-Services Relations (ISPR), on arrival, he was received and warmly welcomed by Iranian Minister for Interior Eskandar Momeni.

The statement added that Federal Minister for Interior, Mr Mohsin Naqvi was also present at the reception.

Earlier, the security sources said that Field Marshal Asim Munir has left for and official visit to Iran.

They said that the CDF will hold discussions on the ongoing Iran-US talks, regional peace and stability, and other matters of mutual interest during the visit.

The sources added that during the visit, the Field Marshal will also meet senior Iranian leadership to discuss bilateral cooperation and the evolving regional situation.
