Amjad Sabri remembered on 10th death anniversary

Karachi  (Web Desk): The 10th death anniversary of renowned Sufi Qawwal and Naat Khawan Amjad Sabri was observed on Monday, with fans and admirers paying tribute to his lasting legacy.

Born on December 23, 1976, in Karachi, Amjad Sabri began his musical journey at a young age by performing as part of the chorus with his father and uncle’s famed ensemble, “Sabri Brothers.”

Over the course of his career, he delivered several popular and widely loved works, including Main Nazar Karoon Jaan-e-Jigar, Allah Allah, Dhoom Macha Do, Kaabe Ki Raunaq, Kaash Yeh Dua Meri, Ali Mera Dil, Phir Dikha De Haram, and Tuloo-e-Saher Hai Shaam-e-Qalandar.

His renditions of Tajdar-e-Haram and Bhar Do Jholi earned him immense recognition and made him a household name, deeply cherished by audiences around the world.

Amjad Sabri is credited with modernizing the traditional art of Qawwali and presenting it to global audiences in a contemporary style while preserving its spiritual essence.

In recognition of his outstanding artistic contributions, the Government of Pakistan honored him with the Medal for Excellence and the Star of Excellence.

He was tragically killed in a targeted firing incident in Karachi on this day in 2016, a loss that continues to be deeply felt by his fans and the cultural community.
