Peshawar (Web Desk): The security forces, in a major achievement, have foiled a bid to smuggle a big cache of foreign made arms from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

According to sources, the security forces managed to prevent a major smuggling attempt at the Ghulam Khan Border Terminal, which lies along the Pak-Afghan border.

On January 8, a truck was intercepted, revealing a concealed stash of advanced foreign weaponry.
After a thorough inspection, authorities found a haul that included dozens of M16 rifles, hundreds of magazines, and a vast amount of ammunition, including rounds for light machine guns and Kalashnikovs.

The arms had been hidden in custom-built compartments within the vehicle’s driver cabin, with evidence suggesting that the concealment process took place in Afghanistan.

The discovery has raised alarms about the ongoing trafficking of weapons into Pakistan, often tied to extremist elements seeking to destabilize the country.

This incident is yet another example of how border trade routes, intended to ease the economic struggles faced by Afghan citizens, are being exploited by terrorist groups for nefarious purposes.

The defence analysts have stressed the need for more decisive actions against these criminal networks, urging Afghan authorities to take stronger measures against the misuse of their territory for such operations.

Without addressing these threats, both Pakistan and Afghanistan face increasing security risks, which undermine efforts for peace and stability in the region.
