SEE Pakistan 2026: Harnessing young talent could transform country's economic landscape, says Wajiha Qamar

Lahore (Web Desk): Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar has highlighted the vast potential of Pakistan’s youth, saying the country’s young population can play a vital role in national development if provided with the right opportunities, skills and support.

Speaking at the ‘SEE Pakistan 2026’ event, she said the participation of more than 4,000 young people reflected the growing interest of Pakistani youth in entrepreneurship, innovation and creative activities.

Wajiha Qamar said such platforms enable young people to present their ideas, explore new opportunities and contribute to strengthening the national economy.

The minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were making concerted efforts to promote Pakistan’s development, stability and economic progress.

She added that the growing interest of foreign investors in Pakistan was an encouraging sign of the country’s expanding economic potential and the opportunities emerging in various sectors.

The minister said Pakistani youth possess immense talent and creativity, stressing that providing them with relevant skills, resources and opportunities was essential to harnessing their potential for sustainable economic and national development.

Recalling the growing interest in entrepreneurship, Wajiha said around 100 startups had emerged from a university about a year ago, while youth participation in the startup ecosystem had increased significantly since then.

She said the strong turnout at ‘SEE Pakistan 2026’ showed that young people were increasingly willing to pursue innovative ideas and explore new avenues.

She said that their participation reflected the entrepreneurial energy and creative potential of Pakistan’s younger generation.

Referring to regional developments, Wajiha Qamar said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye had reached a defence agreement, describing it as an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and stability.

Qamar stressed that fully utilising the skills, creativity and abilities of Pakistani youth would be crucial for achieving sustainable progress and unlocking the country’s economic potential.
