Security forces kill 23 Khwarij in KP operations: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Security forces, during a series of intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), have killed 23 more Khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-ul-Khwarij network, including a key ring leader Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces conducted operations in a determined effort to eliminate terrorist threats and dismantle Khwarij networks in Datta Khel, Spinwam, and Bannu.

“During the operations, they effectively engaged multiple Khwarij locations and killed 23 Khwarij after intense exchanges of fire. The Kharji Jan Meer was highly wanted by security forces, and the government had fixed a head money on him for his involvement in numerous terrorist activities, including the killing of security personnel and innocent civilians,” the statement said.

It added that the neutralization of the Kharji leader is being considered a significant blow to the Khwarij networks operating in these areas.

The statement said security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, a large cache of explosives, and improvised explosive devices from the killed Khwarij.

The military’s media wing said that during sanitization operations, a complex network of underground tunnels and bunkers used by Khwarij was also unearthed and subsequently destroyed by security forces.

“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign, under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, will continue at full pace to eliminate menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.
