Govt increases petrol price by Rs0.27, high-speed diesel by Rs1.64 per litre

Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government has revised upward the prices of petroleum products, raising the cost of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs1.64 per litre and petrol by Re0.27 per litre from Friday, August 21.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had updated the ex-depot rates on Thursday under the government’s existing petroleum pricing formula.

Following the latest adjustment, petrol will now be available at Rs337.78 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs337.51, marking an increase of Re0.27 per litre.

The price of HSD has also gone up, rising from Rs363.06 to Rs364.70 per litre after an increase of Rs1.64.

The revised rates will remain effective for August 21 (Friday) as the government continues its regular practice of reviewing fuel prices in response to changes in international oil prices and other relevant cost considerations.

During the previous review announced on Wednesday, the government had cut the price of HSD substantially by Rs32.63 per litre, while the price of petrol was increased by Rs2.97 per litre.
