Federal govt announces Wheat Policy 2025-26, fixes support price at Rs3,500 per 40kg

Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government has announced a major relief package for farmers by setting the wheat support price at Rs3,500 per 40 kilograms.

Alongside this, the government has also approved the Wheat Policy 2025-26, aimed at protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring the country’s long-term food security through stable wheat reserves.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing the meeting, emphasized that Pakistan is an agricultural economy and that the wheat crop holds critical importance for the nation’s food security.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving the welfare and economic stability of farmers, assuring that every possible measure would be taken for their benefit.

Under the newly approved policy, the government will purchase strategic wheat stocks to maintain stability in supply and prices, providing both market balance and financial protection for growers.

The move is seen as a step toward strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural foundation while ensuring fair returns for the farming community.
