Lahore: Ali Nawaz Awan, former special assistant to prime minister Imran Khan, has announced to quit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and join the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
Awan, who had a significant role within the PTI, reportedly met with IPP’s patron-in-chief Jahangir Tareen and President Aleem Dar to convey his decision to part ways with the PTI.
Awan was welcomed by both Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan in Lahore for joining the party.
Awan is not the first PTI member to join the newly formed political organisation. Most of the former members of the ruling party who joined the IPP did so when they broke with the PTI, particularly after the May 9 crisis.
