Govt cuts diesel price by Rs32.63, raises petrol rate by Rs2.97 per litre

Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government has significantly lowered the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs32.63 per litre, while increasing the rate of petrol by Rs2.97 per litre, with the revised rates coming into effect on August 20, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has dropped from Rs395.69 to Rs363.06 per litre, providing substantial relief to consumers using the fuel.

Meanwhile, petrol has become more expensive, with its price rising from Rs334.54 to Rs337.51 per litre.

The revised rates have been issued under the government’s daily fuel pricing mechanism, which allows petroleum prices to be adjusted in response to movements in international oil markets and other relevant cost factors. The new prices will remain in effect for today (August 20).
