KP to present budget for FY 2026–27 today

Peshawar (Web Desk): The of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is set to present a tax-free budget with an outlay of over Rs2,000 billion for the financial year 2026–27 in the provincial assembly today (Friday), with a series of relief measures planned for government employees and pensioners.

According to official sources, the provincial administration has decided to increase salaries and pensions of government employees by 7 percent each. The budget does not include any proposal for new taxes, which is why authorities are terming it a tax-free financial plan.

The development component of the budget is expected to be around Rs225 billion.

These funds will be directed toward key sectors including education, healthcare, road infrastructure, irrigation, local government projects, and other public welfare initiatives.

As per the provincial government officials, the upcoming fiscal plan focuses strongly on public welfare, job creation, and the timely completion of ongoing development schemes. T

hey added that fiscal discipline has also been prioritised alongside measures aimed at supporting broader economic growth in the province.

Following its presentation in the KP Assembly, lawmakers will begin deliberations on the budget proposals before proceeding toward its final approval.
