PSX records worst trading day of 2026 as market loses billions

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced its worst trading day of 2026 today, with a massive downturn that wiped out billions of rupees from investors' portfolios. Amid heavy profit-taking and intense selling pressure, all defensive strategies failed to prevent the market crash.

During trading, the index saw an extraordinary decline of 7,145 points, causing panic on the trading floor. The session ended with a loss of 6,682 points, bringing the KSE-100 Index down to 172,170.

As a result of the crash, investors lost nearly 700 billion rupees, severely impacting the market's capitalization. Market sources indicated that this was the largest drop of 2026 so far.

The uncertainty has heightened among investors, further worsened by large-scale share sales from major players. Economic experts are calling this a significant "warning" for the market.
