Islamabad (Web Desk): World Humanitarian Day is being observed today Monday across the globe including Pakistan.

This year theme of the day is "Act for Humanity".

The day is aimed at remembering the civilians and aid workers who are killed, injured and abducted in conflict zones despite protections under international law.

In her message on World Humanity Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that serving humanity is the key to a nation's development and progress.

The Punjab CM reiterated that serving humanity is her government's manifesto and motto, aiming to create a society where every individual can live with dignity adding that education, health and welfare projects are the first priority to serve the people.

She paid tribute to the servants of humanity all over the world saying serving humanity is worship.

The World Humanity Day was initiated by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in year 2009 with the purpose of recognizing and encouraging the dedication of humanitarian workers and organizations committed to the welfare of humanity worldwide.

The UN promotes this agenda for the 2024 campaign using the hashtag #ActForHumanity.
