DPM Dar reaffirms Pakistan's commitment to deepening engagement with Turkiye

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for enhanced coordination between Pakistan and Türkiye as both countries prepare for the upcoming Joint Commission and the eighth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Friday.

The statement added that Dar discussed the matter during his meeting with Turkish Ambassador Irfan Neziroğlu, during which the two sides reviewed developments under several bilateral institutional frameworks designed to broaden cooperation in different fields following recent high-level contacts between Pakistan and Türkiye.

DPM/FM Dar “reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening engagement with Türkiye in key priority areas."

He further “emphasised the need for relevant departments to closely coordinate preparations” for the forthcoming Joint Commission as well as the 8th session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, according to the FO.

Ambassador of Türkiye, H.E. Irfan Neziroğlu, called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50. The Ambassador briefed the DPM/FM on progress under various bilateral institutional mechanisms aimed at advancing cooperation across a range of areas, following recent high-level interactions between Pakistan and Türkiye. The DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening engagement with Türkiye in key priority areas. He emphasised the need for relevant departments on both sides to closely coordinate preparations for the forthcoming Joint Commission and the 8th session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council with a view to advancing the bilateral agenda. The two sides also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation. The DPM/FM underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to resolving issues and achieving lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Dar noted that effective coordination among the concerned departments would play an important role in moving forward the shared bilateral agenda.

The meeting also included a discussion on the changing regional environment.

DPM/FM Dar highlighted that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path” for addressing outstanding issues and creating sustainable peace, stability and prosperity, the FO said.
