Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan defeat UAE by 41 runs

Dubai (Web Desk): In the 10th match of the T20 Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan secured a convincing 41-run victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to qualify for the Super Four stage.

Chasing a target of 147 runs, UAE was bowled out for 105 runs in 17.4 overs. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed each took two wickets, while Salman Ali Agha and Saem Ayub claimed one wicket apiece.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer with a fluent half-century, scoring 50 runs off 36 balls, including 3 sixes and 2 fours. Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed an unbeaten 29 runs off 14 balls, helping Pakistan set a competitive total. Captain Salman Ali Agha added 20 runs, and Mohammad Haris scored 18.

For UAE, Junaid Siddiqui was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for just 18 runs, while Simranjit Singh took 3 wickets.

After the match, UAE captain Mohammad Wasim described the game as a “do or die” situation for his team and vowed to fight hard. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said winning the toss and opting to bat was the right decision and expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance.

With this victory, Pakistan maintains an unbeaten record against UAE in T20 cricket, having won all four encounters so far. Pakistan now looks ahead confidently to the upcoming challenges in the Super Four stage.
