Health authority issues advisory on smog prevention and safety measures

Lahore  (Web Desk): The National Health Authority has issued a critical advisory urging citizens to take precautions against the growing threat of smog this winter.

The advisory warns that from this month until February, smog could significantly impact public health, particularly due to the harmful combination of toxic pollutants and cold weather, which could lead to a rise in pneumonia cases.

The advisory highlights that smog and environmental pollution could trigger a variety of health issues, especially respiratory and heart diseases, which could create serious health crises. Children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing medical conditions are especially vulnerable and are at higher risk of severe health effects.

Cities like Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad are identified as the most affected by smog, with Lahore experiencing the highest levels of air pollution. In these areas, the advisory strongly urges residents to exercise extra caution and adopt protective measures.

To mitigate the health risks, the advisory calls on health authorities and experts across the country to take swift and necessary actions.

It also recommends that children avoid prolonged outdoor exposure and advises both children and adults in smog-affected regions to wear masks when venturing outside.

The National Health Authority’s advisory serves as a timely reminder to the public about the dangers of smog and the importance of proactive measures to safeguard health during the winter months.
