Justice Munib Akhtar takes oath as acting CJP

Islamabad (Web Desk): Justice Munib Akhtar takes took oath as acting chief justice of Pakistan on Saturday as CJP Qazi Faiz is set to travel abroad, the top court said in a press release.

Justice Yahya Afridi administered the oath to Justice Munib in a simple and dignified ceremony in the Supreme Court (SC).

The ceremony was attended by SC judges, representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

It is pertinent to mention that CJP Faez Isa is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan from May 18 to 22 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.

Justice Munib Akhtar is the second most senior judge after Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. As Justice Shah is also currently abroad, Justice Munib Akhtar has taken oath as acting CJP.
