Ramadan moon sighted in Pakistan, first fast on February 19

Peshawar (Web Desk): The Ramadan moon has been sighted in Pakistan, and a formal announcement has been made that the first fast will be observed across the country on February 19.

The crucial meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. After receiving verified moon sighting testimonies from different parts of the country, the chairman officially confirmed the beginning of Ramadan.

Religious scholars and scientific experts participated in the meeting to review the evidence using modern scientific methods. Officials present included representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Addressing a press conference, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad stated that authentic moon sighting reports were received from across the country, leading to a unanimous decision to begin Ramadan on February 19. Following the announcement, Taraweeh prayers commenced nationwide, while an atmosphere of joy and spiritual enthusiasm spread among the public.
