Quetta (Web Desk): The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed 14 terrorists in two separate operations in Quetta and Barkhan areas of Balochistan, the officials stated on Wednesday.
According to statement issued by the CTD, the first operation took place in the Darakhshan area on the outskirts of Quetta, where security forces targeted a group identified as Fitna-al-Khawarij.
Authorities said the group was plotting multiple attacks across the region. In the ensuing gunfight, eight militants were killed, while three CTD officers sustained injuries. Officials confirmed that the injured personnel were in stable condition.
The CTD spokesperson said that that the militants were preparing assaults on both government installations and civilians in the province. A large cache of weapons, grenades, and explosives was recovered from their hideout.
The second operation occurred in Barkhan, following intelligence reports about recent militant activity. Security forces surrounded the suspected locations, and when the militants opened fire, a counterattack by the personnel resulted in six deaths. No injuries were reported among the security teams.
Officials said the seized arms, grenades, and explosives were meant for future attacks and that the eliminated militants had been involved in recent efforts to destabilize the region.
In both areas, authorities have stepped up security measures, with increased patrols and surveillance to prevent any further incidents. Investigations are ongoing to locate any remaining militants.
