PM Shehbaz directs to improve supply chain of petroleum imports

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Minister for Petroleum to adopt a more proactive approach in strengthening Pakistan’s petroleum import supply chain.

He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday focused on implementing fuel-saving and austerity measures in response to the evolving regional situation.

During the meeting, PM Shehbaz underscored that all relevant departments must remain on alert and ready to implement emergency measures until conditions stabilize.

Officials informed the meeting that the overall situation is under constant monitoring, with comprehensive records of petroleum products being maintained to swiftly detect any irregularities.

It was also noted that the country currently holds sufficient petroleum stocks to meet national demand, and that directives issued by the prime minister are being actively enforced.

Additionally, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) will submit regular reports on the implementation of all measures.

The meeting highlighted that cabinet members have voluntarily foregone their salaries, and early results indicate a tangible reduction in fuel consumption across government departments.

These austerity measures are expected to provide significant relief to the public amid the ongoing challenges.

Officials further confirmed that the country has adequate medicine stocks to satisfy national requirements.

To support continuity of work, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom has arranged special connectivity provisions, enabling government employees to utilise e-office facilities and work from home efficiently.
