Islamabad (Web Desk): The government on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the Pakistan Day military parade and all related ceremonial activities amid the ongoing Gulf oil crisis and the austerity drive initiated in response.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), said the day will instead be observed in a modest manner, with flag-hoisting ceremonies to be held at relevant levels while maintaining respect and solemnity.

It noted that the decision aims to ensure that the nation’s observance of Pakistan Day remains consistent with the broader policy of financial restraint, while continuing to reflect the country’s resilience and commitment to its founding ideals.

The statement also directed all ministries, divisions, and departments to commemorate the occasion with simplicity and decorum, ensuring that the significance of the day is upheld despite the limited scale of the celebrations.
