Naqvi rejects rumours on PTI founder's health, denounces political spin

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly dismissed rumors surrounding the health and prison conditions of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling attempts to politicize the matter “baseless.”

Speaking to the media, Naqvi described the circulating claims about the PTI founder’s eyesight as entirely false. 
He emphasized that reports suggesting the founder has lost 85% of his vision are inaccurate, noting that medical examinations have been completed and official reports are available.

Naqvi revealed that interference by Aleema Khan delayed the founder’s treatment for three days, but affirmed that his personal medical team has confirmed he is receiving the highest standard of care.

The minister also criticized the PTI leadership, alleging that the party is attempting to exploit the founder’s illness for political advantage.

He added that while most PTI officials were satisfied with the medical arrangements, Aleema Khan vetoed key decisions regarding his care.

Highlighting the situation of other prisoners, Naqvi questioned whether thousands of inmates across the country receive the same privileges as the PTI founder, asserting that if political retaliation were intended, stricter measures would have been applied.

He invited the media to visit the prison to witness firsthand the facilities provided.

On claims of protests or backchannel talks with the government, the minister was unequivocal, stating that no negotiations are currently underway between the government and PTI, and any rumors of a political settlement or “NRO” are completely false.

He issued a stern warning, saying, “If there is an eagerness to stage protests or launches attacks, then they will see the consequences.”

Naqvi asserted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has consistently emphasized serious and constructive dialogue from the outset.
