President Zardari assents to 3 bills including establishment of minorities' commission

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday granted assent to several key pieces of legislation that had earlier cleared both chambers of Parliament, acting in accordance with the advice tendered by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The measures signed into law include the Qanun-e-Shahadat (Law of Evidence) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, along with the King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences Bill, 2025, reflecting progress in legal reforms and higher education in the health sector.

He also approved the National Commission for Minorities Rights Bill, 2025, a law intended to strengthen the protection of religious minorities and support their empowerment and overall development through coordinated initiatives across the country.

Meanwhile, the president decided not to sign the Daanish Schools Authority Bill, 2025 and referred it back to the prime minister for reconsideration, pointing to the need for broader consultation.

In his observations, President Zardari noted that the establishment of Daanish Schools within the provinces makes it essential to first engage the concerned provincial governments, stressing that such consultation is a necessary prerequisite.
