Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has risen to 136 after Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa confirmed 68 and 15 new cases.

The sharp increase in cases was reported among pilgrims who have recently returned from Iran via Taftan.

Advisor to Sindh chief minister on Information Murtaza Wahab said another 11 people who have reached the province from Taftan have tested positive.

“Another 11 have tested positive. These patients came to Sukkur from Taaftaan & were purportedly kept in quarantine at the border. So the total patients affected by corona virus has reached 88 now. All these patients are being kept in isolation,” Wahab said in a tweet.

Out of the 88 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sindh, 61 are from Taftan, 26 from the provincial capital of Karachi and one from Hyderabad.

Ten cases have been reported by Balochistan, four by Islamabad, three by Gilgit Baltistan and one by Punjab.

The national tally, subsequently, has risen to 136.
