Five terrorists killed during Attock operation: CTD

Attock (Web Desk): The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday stated that five terrorists were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in Mankor area in Jand tehsil of Attock district.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was initiated after authorities received reliable intelligence about the presence and suspected movement of militants who were allegedly involved in planning attacks across Punjab.

Acting on the information, security forces reached the area, where the suspects reportedly opened fire, resulting in an intense exchange of gunfire between the two sides.

The spokesperson added that CTD personnel responded promptly and effectively, leading to the deaths of all five suspected militants during the confrontation.

After the engagement, a cache of weapons, explosive materials, and hand grenades was recovered from the scene.

Early findings indicate that the killed individuals were allegedly linked to preparations for carrying out terrorist activities in Punjab.

The CTD spokesperson further explained that the action was based on sensitive intelligence inputs regarding their movement patterns and operational planning.

Following the operation, security agencies launched a wider search effort across border areas of Attock to track down any remaining suspects, facilitators, or accomplices who may have managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the CTD for the successful operation against Fitna al Khawarij in Attock.

In a statement, the premier commended the professionalism of law enforcement agencies, including security forces, police, and the CTD, noting that they are achieving important successes in the ongoing campaign against terrorism.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s determination to eradicate terrorism in all its forms from the country.
