Trump announces formation of Gaza 'Board of Peace' under phase-2 ceasefire plan

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump on Thursday revealed the creation of a new initiative aimed at fostering peace in the Gaza Strip, calling it the “Board of Peace.”

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump described the move as a historic step, declaring, “It is my great honour to announce that the Board of Peace has been formed. The members will be revealed soon, but I can assure you it is the greatest and most prestigious board ever assembled, anywhere, at any time.”

The announcement follows remarks from US envoy Steve Witkoff on Wednesday, who confirmed that the second phase of a ceasefire agreement has now begun, as part of Trump’s broader 20-point plan to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.

In another statement, Trump emphasized that this next stage of the plan has officially commenced.

As chairman of the newly formed Board of Peace, he expressed his support for the recently appointed Palestinian Technocratic Government, officially named the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which will manage the territory during its transitional period.

He highlighted that these leaders are fully committed to building a peaceful future.

Trump further outlined that a comprehensive agreement to demilitarize Hamas would be pursued with backing from Egypt, Turkiye, and Qatar, signaling a coordinated effort among regional partners to stabilize the area and ensure lasting peace.
